Tameka Simmons

Director of Legal Affairs, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.

A results-driven and compliance-oriented attorney, Tameka Simmons holds a wealth of experience in mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, private equity and hedge funds, corporate transactions, corporate governance, intellectual property, and risk management. Tameka has proven experience developing in-house legal departments, operational policy, procedure, and process, and managing complex projects, while building long-lasting relationships with clients, corporations, and other stakeholders.

After earning her Juris Doctorate from Howard University, Tameka held various roles in Wall Street law firms, boutique firms, private companies, and nonprofits, handling general corporate transactions, financing, asset management, intellectual property, litigation, corporate structure, labor and employment, international law and compliance, global risk management, youth risk management, charitable partner relations, operational policy, and corporate governance.  In her current role at Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., she serves as Director of Legal Affairs, managing the 108-year-old nonprofit’s legal transactions across the globe as it serves more than 300,000 members in 1200 chapters throughout Asia, Africa, Europe, and North America. 

Tameka volunteers her time with the Association of Corporate Counsel and is currently cochairing the planning committee International Women’s Day and the Global Women in Law Symposium. Some of her most meaningful work is investing time with young women and attorneys and is most proud when the mentee surpasses the mentor.
