Jazlyn Gallego, MPM
Manager, Policy & Advocacy
Jazlyn comes to the Cancer Support Community as a nonprofit manager, political organizer, and health policy expert. Her experience as a caregiver for her father fueled her passion for advocacy and has informed her insights into incorporating a patient perspective.
At the Cancer Support Community, Jazlyn serves as a Manager of Policy and Advocacy. In her role, she elevates the voices of cancer patients, caregivers, and survivors through advocacy. Tracking federal regulatory and legislative activity, she conducts strategic analysis into government efforts that offer support for those most impacted by cancer.
She holds a bachelor's degree in international affairs with a minor in economics from Rollins College. She received a Master of Policy Management degree from Georgetown University’s McCourt School of Public Policy. Her graduate capstone project focused on federal support for integration of whole person health programs at Federally Qualified Health Centers. With her background in mental health policy, Jazlyn is especially motivated to elevate the psychosocial element of the Cancer Support Community’s work.
Prior to joining the Cancer Support Community, Jazlyn led civic engagement efforts through political campaigns, nonprofit management, and political organizing around advocacy issues ranging from voting rights to children's issues. She also advocated for greater access to mental healthcare as a graduate intern at the American Psychological Association and a Manager of Government Affairs at the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.
In her free time, she enjoys fitness, cooking, and volunteering.
