The Cancer Support Community is proud to announce the newest team member of our Cancer Policy Institute. Please join us in welcoming Kim Czubaruk, the Senior Director of Policy and Advocacy.
Kim is an attorney with a background in civil litigation and disability law who focuses on health policy and advocacy to improve the lives of patients and their loved ones. Prior to joining the Cancer Support Community, Kim served as policy manager with the American Academy of Nursing and as a legal consultant with the Food Allergy and Anaphylaxis Network. While with the Academy, Kim developed and led multiple national initiatives, built cross-sector collaborative partnerships, and worked with Academy fellows to advance health policy. Through her advocacy on behalf of children and adults with food-induced anaphylaxis, Kim improved the education, prevention, emergency response, and legal protections for severely food allergic individuals. Her achievements earned her the Muriel C. Furlong Award for Making a Difference.
Kim earned her Juris Doctor degree, with honors, from George Washington University Law School in Washington, DC and is licensed to practice law in Maryland and the District of Columbia. She obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree, magna cum laude, in political science from Union College in Schenectady, NY where she was inducted into the Phi Beta Kappa Society and the Pi Sigma Alpha national political science honor society.
We are thrilled to have Kim as part of our team. As you have read on this blog many times, our policy work aims to put the patient at the center of the debate over health policies. We educate lawmakers and government officials through our Grassroots Network, so please take this opportunity to join us.
