On Sunday, June 9 as part of the 73 rd annual Tony Awards, we will have the opportunity to celebrate the legacy of a great champion for cancer patients and their loved ones. The late CSC Champion and three-time Tony Award nominee and 2017 American Theatre Hall of Fame Inductee Marin Mazzie will be honored with a special Tony Award in recognition of her leadership within the theatre community for women’s health issues and her support of organizations such as the Cancer Support Community.

Medicare Part D is a voluntary outpatient prescription drug benefit to assist people in affording their prescription medications. Part D benefits are provided through private health insurance plans and approved by the federal government. Participants in Part D are able to choose between supplementing their traditional Medicare with a stand-alone prescription drug plan or a Medicare Advantage prescription drug plan that is part of and includes other aspects of Medicare. In November, 2018 the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) proposed a new rule for Part D that would have changed the special coverage protections for medications included in the six protected classes.

Leaders of the Navajo Nation, the Tuba City Regional Health Care Corporation (TCRHCC), and the Cancer Support Community (CSC) joined Dr. Jill Biden on the Navajo Nation in marking a milestone moment: the opening of the first full-time cancer care center on an American Indian Reservation.
