Making Sense of Clinical Trials — Together

Clinical trials can be confusing.  It can be hard to understand how they work, what you might expect, and how you fit into this process. If you’re already overwhelmed, it can make learning about your options, including clinical trials, all the more difficult.

That’s why we offer a free peer support program to help you better understand cancer clinical trials and help you make informed decisions about your care.

In this program, we’ll connect you with a peer mentor — a Hispanic/Latino(a) cancer patient or survivor who’s participated in a clinical trial. You can ask questions, talk about your concerns, and hear from someone like you who’s gone through a similar experience.

You and your peer mentor will be matched for three months.

During that time, you’ll get:

  • Conversations that work best for you in English or Spanish
  • A safe space to ask your questions and share your concerns
  • A chance to hear about your peer mentor’s experience with clinical trials
  • Resources and support that fit your needs

How It Works

  1. Enroll: Fill out a short form or give us a call. We’ll talk with you to ensure the program is right for you and match you with a peer mentor who best suits your needs.
  2. Connect: Connect with your peer mentor on the phone, email, or by text — what is most comfortable for you.
  3. Engage: Ask questions, share your concerns, and learn more about clinical trials from your peer mentor.

We’ll match you with a Hispanic/Latino(a) peer mentor who speaks English or Spanish to get free one-on-one emotional and practical support.

To participate, you must:

  • Identity as Hispanic/Latino(a)
  • Be a cancer patient or survivor and/or be at higher risk for a cancer diagnosis due to family history.
  • Are 18 years of age or older
  • Speak English or Spanish

Why This Program Matters

Many people who identify as Hispanic/Latino(a) or are Spanish-speaking face barriers to joining clinical trials — including language differences, limited access to information, or past experiences that make it hard to trust the healthcare system.

This program helps to address some of those barriers by connecting you with someone who understands you, your culture, your language, and your concerns.

When more people from diverse communities, including Hispanic/Latino(a) people, join clinical trials, researchers can develop treatments that work better for everyone.

Our Peer Mentors

Our peer mentors are Hispanic/Latino(a) cancer patients or survivors. Each mentor has participated in a cancer clinical trial. All peer mentors speak English and Spanish, so you can pick which language works for you.

They are here to listen to your questions and concerns, share their experience, and provide you with the education and resources you need to better understand clinical trials.

Peer mentors do not provide medical advice or enroll you in a clinical trial.
