LACONIA, NH- Last week, Sally Werner, our Senior Vice President of Affiliate Relations, traveled to Laconia, New Hampshire to present a charter to Gilda’s Club New Hampshire and to meet with Gilda’s Club New Hampshire leaders, local officials, and corporate supporters.
"Now we can really get serious," said Pat Anderson, founding Executive Director of Gilda's Club New Hampshire. "I know there are some groups that have been working for years, trying to do this. I'm too impatient for that … We need this now."
At the ceremony Bank of New Hampshire CEO Paul Falvey announced that the bank will match the next $10,000 in donations for the affiliate.
A short article in the Laconia Daily Sun neatly summed up the social and emotional support services that will now be available in the state of New Hampshire for people living with cancer, their caregivers, and their loved ones:
“Gilda’s Clubs offer far more than support groups. They are a free place for people with cancer, or people whose loved ones are afflicted by the disease, to go for everything from structured educational events to places where they can play, laugh, talk and cry with people who understand what it means to have cancer in their lives.
‘It includes the whole family — it includes kids, and they have social activities as well,’ Anderson said.”
