Join our Peer Clinical Trials Support Program and help others like you understand cancer clinical trials. As a peer mentor, you’ll help others like you by simply being there — listening, sharing your experience, and offering support and education so they feel more confident making decisions about their care.
This program is currently available for peer mentors and participants who identify as Black or Hispanic/Latino(a).
What You’ll Do
As a peer mentor, you’ll get professional training to help you:
- Share your personal journey with cancer and clinical trials
- Provide helpful info and resources about clinical trials
- Encourage and empower others to speak up and make informed choices
- Support people in exploring their options — without telling them what to do
Who We’re Looking For
We’re looking for people who have strong listening and communication skills and are comfortable sharing their personal experiences. Peer mentors are compensated for supporting program mentees.
To become a peer mentor, you must:
- Identify as Black or Hispanic/Latino(a)
- Be a cancer patient or survivor
- Have experience participating in a cancer clinical trial (past or present)
- Be at least 18 years old
- Have reliable access to a computer and the internet
- Speak English and/or Spanish*
*Peer mentors supporting Hispanic/Latino(a) program participants must speak English and Spanish. Peer mentors supporting Black cancer program participants must speak English.
How to Become a Peer Mentor
- Complete an application and interview
- Agree to a background check by signing a consent form and code of conduct
- Attend a 12-hour virtual training
