Watch the recording of our virtual meeting to raise awareness of the impact of cancer cachexia, a condition that causes weakness, muscle loss, and drastic unintentional weight loss leading up to a cancer diagnosis or during treatment. This meeting, which took place in November 2021, also helped to inform the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) about the patient and caregiver perspective on living with cancer cachexia.

What Are Externally-Led Patient-Focused Drug Development Meetings? EL-PFDD meetings allow the FDA, pharmaceutical companies, and health care providers to hear directly from patients and caregivers about how a particular disease, disorder, or syndrome impacts their daily life, and their experiences with currently available treatments and therapies.

The information discussed at an EL-PFDD helps the FDA and other stakeholders understand the patient experience as they work to develop new treatments and therapies.
