Since first opening its red doors in 2001, Gilda’s Club Greater Toronto (GCGT) has been empowering men, women, children and teens impacted by cancer to achieve their greatest quality of life. GCGT offers a diverse calendar programs at no cost for those experiencing cancer related stress; whether living with cancer, a caregiver, bereaved, a family member or a friend. Services include support groups facilitate by mental health professionals, educational lectures and workshops, mind-body stress reduction activities, exercise and art classes, nutrition workshops, social gatherings, resources and referrals. Programs for children and youth ages 4 to 19 are facilitated by Child Life Specialists, Social Workers, and specialists in therapeutic play. Especially unique to GCGT is the Not-Just-Supper program, run by a professional chef and nutrition professor, delivering health-promoting meals before evening support groups, further fostering a supportive community. As of April 3rd, 2020, GCGT launched its first of many virtual programs, so that no one faces cancer alone. For more information visit gildasclubtoronto.org or call 416-214-9898.
