#TeamMarin Goes the Distance for Patients

NEW YORK, NY- The past month has been an exciting time for all of us at the Cancer Support Community.

In February, we announced that Broadway star Jason Danieley would run with Brian d’Arcy James in the 2019 United Airlines NYC Half in #TeamMarin, a special team created in honor of Jason’s late wife, three-time Tony nominee Marin Mazzie (who passed away from ovarian cancer last September).

Yesterday we celebrated Jason, Brian, and the other four individuals by cheering them on in New York City during the big Half Marathon weekend.

“[Marin is] constantly with me and she was nothing more than my biggest cheerleader in everything I ever did in my life,” Jason said in an interview with WABC-TV the day of the race. “She didn’t run with me but she’d be right there at mile 13 seeing me across [the finish line].”

See the full report from WABC's Amy Freeze below; the Jason and Brian segment starts at the 2 minute, 40 second mark.

We are thrilled to announce that, thanks to everyone who has supported Jason, Brian, and our other four runners, we have raised more than $46,000 on behalf of cancer patients and their loved ones. That is four times what we raised last year.

Your support means we can help even more people who have been impacted by a cancer diagnosis. Through our award-winning educational materials, toll-free Helpline, and other free support services, we reach more than a million patients and families each year who search for knowledge, strength, and community.

Thank you to everyone who supported our runners in the 2019 United Airlines NYC Half on behalf of the Cancer Support Community!

On behalf of all of us at the Cancer Support Community, we want to thank everyone who has contributed during this campaign. Your donation ensures that community is truly stronger than cancer.

Please take a look at the chart below that quantifies how you are helping patients and their loved ones and be sure to share this with your Twitter or Facebook followers. There's still time to help us reach $50,000, which means #TeamMarin can help us serve more patients.
