Watch the webinar, Frankly Speaking About Cancer: Clinical Trials and the Cancer Moonshot that took place on September 29, 2016, for what you need to know about clinical trials and why participating in clinical trials is even more important with the national Cancer Moonshot Initiative. You will hear from an oncologist and clinical trials expert as well as from a survivor on how participation in clinical trials has impacted her. This will be followed by a question and answer period with the speakers.

The Cancer Support Community recently launched the Frankly Speaking About Cancer Clinical Trials program as an important instrument to change patient and caregiver’s understanding of the value of clinical trials. By raising awareness about clinical trials, we can improve rates of participation and advance cancer treatment more rapidly. This new program will help reach the promise of the new Cancer Moonshot initiative launched by the White House. Through the Moonshot, leaders representing the entire cancer community – including researchers, doctors, scientists, philanthropists, community oncologists, advocates, patients, and survivors – are coming together to improve access to cutting edge treatments and enhance the rate of progress in cancer prevention, diagnosis, and treatment.

The webinar features the following panelists:

  • Gerald Messerschmidt, MD, FACP, Director, Clinical Research Center, Main Line Health, Lankenau Institute for Medical Research
  • Ide Mills, Lung Cancer Survivor

This program was made possible by charitable grants from AMGEN, CELGENE, AstraZeneca, Karyopharm, Pfizer, and Novartis.
