Support groups consist of weekly groups for people with cancer (support groups) and their adult loved ones (friends & family groups) are the heart of our program! These are committed groups that are facilitated by licensed professionals. Registration is required! Please call The Wellness Community to learn more about joining. Both groups are currently running Tuesday evenings from 6-8 pm. An additional support group is available on Mondays from 11am-1pm.
Drop In Groups are held monthly and provide an opportunity to connect with others dealing with similar issues without a regular comittment. Friends and family members are welcome to attend monthly groups with or without the person who has been diagnosed with cancer. All groups are led by masters level licensed professionals.
Every 4th Saturday of the month:
Breast Cancer: For people dealing with breast cancer. 10 am-11:30 am
Spirituality: Exploring meaning and purpose in the cancer experience. 10 am-11:30am
After Cancer Treatment: Ongoing support for people post treatment. 12 pm-1:30pm

Cancer Transitions is a 6-week program that focuses on moving forward after a cancer diagnosis. The series includes weekly exercise and features guest speakers including an exercise physiologist, registered dietician and oncologist. Weekly topics include:
Week 1: Take Control of Survivorship
Week 2: Exercise for Wellness
Week 3: Emotional Health & Well-being
Week 4: Nutrition Beyond Cancer
Week 5: Medical Management After Cancer
Week 6: Moving Beyond Treatment

Kids Kicking Cancer is a weekly program that consists of martial arts breathing, meditation and focus techniques that teach children tools to reduce pain, fear and anger. Open to children with cancer, children of a parent with cancer and all siblings. An afterschool class will begin is held Thursdays from 4:30-5:30pm. Click here to watch a video about the program.
FOCUS is an exciting new 6 week program made possible by a grant from The Rosalynn Carter Institute for Caregiving and the Johnson & Johnson Foundation, that provides support to people diagnosed with cancer and a loved one. The FOCUS Program is a University of Michigan research study about improving communication, emotional support and quality of life. Each
week the person with cancer and a loved one will gather with others for 2 hours to learn more about how to live through and beyond cancer. Click here for printable flyer and call for session times and details.
Stress Management and Exercise Programs designed to reduce stress and strengthen the immune system for people with cancer and those who support them. Come and enjoy weekly tai chi, yoga, meditation and other special offerings. See below for classes and times or click here to view the schedule of our current offerings. Yoga: Mondays 6-7:15 pm & Wednesdays 11am-12:15pm
Tai Chi: Mondays 10-11am
Meditation: Tuesdays 1-2 pm
Educational Workshops are led by experts on a variety of topics. These events will provide opportunities for acquiring tools, and information about cancer, along with techniques to learn how to be an active participant in the fight for recovery.
