What if you had the chance to get up close and personal with Broadway star Lindsay Mendez? On Monday, October 7th, the singing sensation from Wicked will be performing a private concert in Philadelphia to benefit the Cancer Support Community, and we want to make sure that you have a ticket!
To get you even more excited for this fabulous event, we asked Lindsay a few questions about her story and her relationship with the Cancer Support Community.
What is your connection to cancer?
I recently lost someone very close to me to a long battle with breast cancer. I was by her side through the entire fight, and saw how hard it was for her and for the people around her.
How and when did you become involved with the Cancer Support Community?
I became involved with the CSC through another actress who was a friend and knew
I was affected by cancer. My relationship with the CSC started in October of 2012.
What do you love most about the work of the Cancer Support Community?
I love what the CSC sets out to do and how they support so many people and families. After going through it personally, you really start to understand how little support there is out there for patients trying to live and cope with these illnesses. The CSC provides so much knowledge and care before, during, and after treatment, and does so not only for the patients, but for their families who are also battling these diseases.
Tell us about your upcoming performance for the Cancer Support Community.
I will be performing alongside my musical collaborator Marco Paguia. Together, we have a jazz band and just released our first album, This Time. We will be performing some songs from the album, as well as a few Broadway songs.
What motivates or inspires you?
People who don’t settle and continue to aspire to living a happy, full life.
