This year, the Cancer Support Community partnered with the Entertainment Industry Foundation and actress and breast cancer survivor Christina Applegate, to expand resources available through Christina’s foundation, Right Action for Women. Working in partnership with other leaders in the breast cancer community, CSC assembled an Advisory Council to advise Right Action for Women as it grew to provide more robust resources for young women at high risk for developing breast cancer.
Guided by CSC’s leadership and recommendations from the Advisory Council, Right Action for Women expanded its online education content to empower women to proactively handle their genetic predisposition to early breast cancer. Using the ‘Right Action For Women Quiz’, the site helps visitors identify a genetic predisposition and connect with the appropriate resources.
CSC partnered with Patient Services, Inc to develop Right Action for Women's first financial assistance program. Launching nationally in 2011, the program helps young women who are at high risk for breast cancer access Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) screening.
