The Cancer Support Community would like to wish you a happy holiday season and thank you for your support throughout the year to ensure people impacted by cancer are empowered by knowledge, strengthened by support, and sustained by community. As 2010 draws to a close, we are working to help people diagnosed with cancer, and their families and friends, deal with the growing challenge of cancer – growing numbers, growing complexity, and growing need.
- More survivors - today there are 12 million cancer survivors in the U.S., with 1.5 million new diagnoses in 2010, and in the next five to ten years, the number could exceed 20 million
- More cancers, more treatment choices – increasing numbers of people are dealing with cancer over many years; and with more options for treating their cancer, they are facing complex decisions
- More cost – cancer patients and their families are increasingly struggling to pay for their treatment, amidst uncertainty about the economy and health care reform
Today, less than a third of all people facing cancer receive social and emotional support. That is why the Cancer Support Community’s goal is to make our services available to all cancer patients and survivors, their families and friends, wherever they are, whenever they need our support. And that is why we need you – to help us help others.
This holiday season, please make a gift to support the Cancer Support Community. Together, we can ensure that no one has to face cancer alone.
