Coinciding with her 10th
anniversary as President and CEO, Kim Thiboldeaux, who began leading The Wellness Community in 2000, recently received a Washington SmartCEO
2010 BRAVA! Women Business Achievement Award, which recognizes 25 female CEOs making unprecedented strides in business, building a stronger community both financially, philanthropically and most importantly, through leadership. The BRAVA! winners are profiled in the July issue of SmartCEO
, which is read by more than 30,000 business owners in the Baltimore-Washington Metropolitan area. Each winner is also featured in the digital edition of the magazine.
Kim has also been honored with an invitation to join other nationally-recognized experts to form the National Call to Action (NCTA) Council of Experts to provide strategic insight and guidance to the diverse NCTA Community. The NCTA Community is a collective of individuals and organizations who share the common mission of advancing the four goals of the National Call to Action on Cancer Prevention and Survivorship by initiating and completing projects focused on improving the health and well-being of the whole person at all stages along the cancer continuum. Kim with be joining the likes of former Surgeons General, Dr. Antonia C. Novello and Dr. David Satcher, as well as several other distinguished experts.
Kim and the Cancer Support Community have also had the privilege of being only one of three cancer support and advocacy organizations invited to join the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer, which is a consortium of professional organizations dedicated to improving survival and quality of life for cancer patients through standard-setting, prevention, research, education and the monitoring of comprehensive quality care. Kim and Headquarters will be helping to design new standards in psychosocial support and distress management for cancer patients.
