CSC is proud to announce a Summit on Psychosocial Oncology, taking place November 5th, 2011 from 9am-12pm at Washington Marriot Wardman Park in Washington, DC. The Summit will address national progress made towards meeting needs outlined in the 2007 Institute of Medicine (IOM) report Cancer Care for the Whole Patient: Meeting Psychosocial Health Needs
Susan Dentzer, Editor-in-Chief of Health Affairs, the nation's leading journal of health policy, and an on-air analyst on health issues with The NewsHour with Jim Lehrer on the Public Broadcasting Service (PBS), will moderate the event. Leaders in psychosocial oncology, including Dr. Stephen Edge, Chair of the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer, will outline advances towards meeting these needs. Dr. Edge will address new patient centered standards that the Commission is adopting.
CSC will host an exhibition before and directly following the Summit to showcase the important work being accomplished throughout the cancer community in meeting psychosocial needs. The exhibition will serve as an opportunity for CSC’s partners, collaborators and funders to share their progress in advancing medical and psychosocial cancer care for all patients. We invite medical professionals, patient advocates, survivors, policy makers and members of the press to join us for this important event.
Additional details will be available in June. Please contact Maria Smith, Communications and Events Coordinator, firstname.lastname@example.org
